Technology Driven – Innovation is and has always been a critical element of our success. In 1999 a multi-million Euro investment was made to build a new raw material processing facility in the south of Portugal. This new facility was equipped with innovations never before seen or utilized in cork production. In 2002 a second facility was constructed and further technologies introduced which combined have helped us achieve a 96% reduction in TCA values since.
Portocork Portugal is the most technologically advanced cork facility in the world. Home of the individual cork screening technology NDTECH, which launched in 2016 and revolutionized the industry by becoming the first proven technological innovation which effectively eliminates cork stoppers which have a detectable level of TCA on a full production scale. In 2012 Portocork America became the first cork producer in the United States to utilize Laser printing on cork stoppers. Laser printing enabled us to offer intricate design never before possible on cork.
